About the Solar: Hope Project

We are a not for profit Organization based out of Gilbert, Arizona. We are passionate about Sustainable Living and ways of improving life for less fortunate people. We have come together with Stardust from ASU to creatively find a better way of life through the residual donation of Solar Energy.

2011-12′ Project

La Esperanza Children’s Home just outside of Puerto Penasco, Mexico has 43 children living there now and will have 54 in the very near future. Guillermo Zapata and his family run the Orphanage and will keep receiving kids with no additional funding from the Mexican government. Alot of these children have come from horrible backgrounds and situations you can’t imagine. Things that we take for granted every day like hot water for showers will be a first for most of these kids. The facility uses an average of $1,100.00 U.S. of electricity to run the 5 main structures on the grounds. We plan on installing a 200 panel, 40 kilowatt solar power system to eliminate the monthly power bill indefinitely. Leaving with the monthly, bill will be any stress, giving them peace of mind. The solar panels will be replacing the power bill, leaving them approximately $13,000 U.S. per year to devote to more important things such as education, religious, sports programs, ect. Finally and maybe most important, by installing the system we will set an example to the surrounding community, showing them that there is another way. By leaving educational material about Solar Energy at the project and leading by example, we hope to inspire a younger generation to get involved in the Green Living Movement.
